On Anguilla there are a number of places worth a visit. These can be divided into two parts: Buildings and areas around them, both old and new, of historical and cultural interest, and places of natural interest and beauty. A driving tour around Anguilla is the best way to see these places.

Visit nearby islands:
Nearby islands offer a range of different things to see.

St. Martin / St. Maarten
Offers a unique juxtaposition of French and Dutch cultures visible through their restaurants, cafés, architecture and shops. Both sides of the island have quite a different feel.

St. Barthelemy
A small island with a unique French/Swedish influence. Despite its diminutive size it has a very cosmopolitan air and the idyllic main town of Gustavia has a number of excellent restaurants and luxury item shops.

Prickly Pear Cays
Many of Anguilla's offshore islands are popular for scuba diving and Prickly Pear Cays, which has caverns, ledges, barracudas and nurse sharks, is no exception. It is also a very popular spot for snorkelling, and tour boats from Sandy Ground deposit deep see enthusiasts here daily.

Sandy Island
Sandy Island, lying 1.6km (1mi) off Sandy Ground, is a small islet surrounded by shallow reefs and consisting of little more than some fine sand and a couple of coconut palms - you can basically walk around the whole thing in just 10 minutes. The reefs offer reasonable snorkelling, with waving finger corals, sea fans and small tropical fish rippling under the crystal surface. To get to Sandy Island, simply arrange the five-minute boat ride at Sandy Ground.

Scilly Cay
Just off Island Harbour, in the centre of the bay, is the tiny private island of Scilly Cay, fringed with a beach of bone-white sands and equipped with an open-air restaurant and bar. It can make for a loungey afternoon of food, music and swimming.

Scrub Island
This island, reached by boat from Island Harbour, lies just off Anguilla's northeastern tip, covered in scrubby vegetation and inhabited by herds of scruffy goats. It has a beach on its western side, an abandoned airstrip and some good snorkelling spots. There are no facilities, so its strictly BYO.
